Energy giant BP, faced with huge cleanup costs related to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, this week tapped Robert Dudley to be its next CEO, succeeding Tony Hayward in October. Mr. Dudley grew up in Mississippi and has been in charge of BP’s response to the spill for the last month. He will be BP’s first non-British CEO. Mr. Dudley promised to continue the efforts to clean up the damage caused by the spill and to compensate residents affected.
